YodelRoar combines the ancient art of yodeling with the historic music of bagpipes. Both yodeling and bagpipes hold a sacred place in many cultures and to our knowledge have not been mixed before. We are excited to share new musical paths through their union.

Down by the River has once again extended its feelers—with a tireless spirit of discovery, it delves deep into Berlin’s vibrant live music cosmos and far beyond.
Doreen yodeled her way through Southern California and contributed to several projects.

Doreen Kutzke
Doreen Kutzke is a Berlin-based multidisciplinary musician and composer who explores advanced vocal techniques influenced by her upbringing and training in yodeling in the GDR and subsequent studies in Kyoto in Japanese and Buddhist singing techniques. She has performed around the globe (including at the Gokseong Yodel Festival in South Korea).
Kutzke’s work has garnered international attention and has been featured in The Guardian, BBC, ARTE TV, and various German television stations.
Andrew McGregor, a bagpiper who has performed on a Grammy-nominated album and multi-instrumental musician, has an eclectic background spanning filmmaking, social enterprise, chessboxing, and more. Named one of ‘LA’s 40 Most Interesting People’ by LA Weekly, Andrew’s diverse accomplishments also include winning the SXSW Interactive Award for Activism and being featured in the NY Times Sports Section.
